2.‘Scaped in a whale boat & rowed til my last breath
picked up by soldiers on the open sea
They were looking for deserters from Napoleons army
My choice was the hangman or the Royal Navy
Transporting settlers and convicts to new lands
Gibraltar, Virginia, the Barbary Coast
Set sail for distant New Holland
at the bottom of the world

3. Approaching Antipodes we struck a reef
was washed ashore an unknown beach
there I was saved by two native women
they wanted my trousers buttons
took me to a cave by the rocks
ex convicts and sailors hunting fur seals
the women swim and dance with the seals
then the sealers rush in a club the seals to death

4. After three years I jumped a ship and

one day a boat was going to Port Jackson
so I returned to civilisation
sailed onto Kowloon and onto Blighty
