Centaur 05:18
Hey there, look in the sky, half a horse and man flew by, it's a centaur in the night sky Hear those thundering hooves, hear the wings on the roof, it's a centaur, in the night sky Hey kid what you done did, silver streams from your fingertips and a halo like a rainbow Find me Milly the Moo, half housewife and kangaroo, she goes bouncing in the town square Centaur Hey now, look at my shoes, take a peek at my dancer’s feet, they are broken from dancing He’s got counterfeit teeth, stolen eyes and treacherous lips but I like that, like a centaur Now cast magical spells, hungry wolves in Dingley Dell, they are hunting in the night sky Centaur Shame now everyone says, they can hear the strains of distant trains, they’re arriving in the morning Your pa’s a funny old man, dancing gnome in a traveling band with a trumpet and a cornet Hey Sue, what did you do? Family feud at a bbq with your corkscrew hairdo Wise men feeding us lies, hear the horsemen flying by in the night sky it's a centaur Centaur

1.The white caps are rolling off the white cliffs of Dover Stowed away when I was a young man With a head full of romantic ideas Sailed to Jamaica where they trade in sugar and human misery Captured by pirates off the coast of Florida Kept in a cage for two long years CHORUS I was born a life a rovin’ I was born to be free I was born a life a rovin’ And to sing the Song of the Sea 2.‘Scaped in a whale boat & rowed til my last breath picked up by soldiers on the open sea They were looking for deserters from Napoleons army My choice was the hangman or the Royal Navy Transporting settlers and convicts to new lands Gibraltar, Virginia, the Barbary Coast Set sail for distant New Holland at the bottom of the world CHORUS 3. Approaching Antipodes we struck a reef was washed ashore an unknown beach there I was saved by two native women they wanted my trousers buttons took me to a cave by the rocks ex convicts and sailors hunting fur seals the women swim and dance with the seals then the sealers rush in a club the seals to death CHORUS I was born life a rovin’ I was born to be free I was born a life a rovin’ And to sing the Song of the Sea I was born in 1779 A new man for the new century I am the Lord of All I Survey No prisoner am I at all 4. After three years I jumped a ship and sailed to the Land of the Long White Cloud there I lived for years unknown with Kings and Queens and cannibals one day a boat was going to Port Jackson so I returned to civilisation sailed onto Kowloon and onto Blighty

Liner Notes

The Blighted Parade
wind their way
through crumbled streets
past the old showgrounds,
limp with one crutch,
stammer in ill fitting opp shop suit,
overly thin and tall and squeaky voice

The Blighted Parade crosses the bridge over the creek
straggles through the suburbs
Tra la la
the limp flag of the rag tag band
Stretching out round the corner
Old orphans, ex circus casuals, Methodist alcoholics, sacked tuck shop mums, families with generations of blight

The Blighted Parade
sighted in flashing headlights
in the gravel margins along the highway
on the fringes of the city
Where are they going?
To the sky,
Ascending

The birthmarked blighted ones
now embedded in the night sky
a twisted curiosity
backed by cascading star showers
a skyshow for you,
each and every night
